Effective Error Checking Method: How to Spot Sudoku Mistakes Early.

Careful placement of either only the two or three PENCIL MARKS routines combined with a simple error-checking method, easily turns a nightmare puzzle that seems destined to be started over into an effective brain exercise.

Learn how to fix Sudoku errors without starting over, preventing small mistakes from compounding before they spoil your game.

To achieve the calming and cognitive benefits needed for seniors and new users, it only requires a simple-to-learn error-checking method that promotes calm and success.

Pencil marks are a great tool. Too many pencil marks lead to clutter and mistakes. Sudoku123 shows you a new method of using pencil marks sparingly as you look for the correct placement of the missing numbers. When you combine this method with a simple error-checking routine that helps you find mistakes and remove unwanted pencil marks, success is guaranteed.

There is no logic or math involved – error checking is the key.

A standard Sudoku puzzle has nine stacks – three across and three down. The connection between these stacks is very important. Temporarily zooming in to review any three of these stacks, either vertically or horizontally, can help find errors at an early stage.

While the Sudoku123 method discourages you from using any previously learned routines (such as checking all the ones, then the twos, and so on) during error checking, it is necessary to see that each row or column in the stack has either resolved numbers or pencil marks that reserve a cell. This is when you use the ones, twos, threes to ensure that each row or column has one of each, or a pencil mark reserve. A blank cell is, of course, fine during error checking, as it will be resolved a little later as your random scanning progresses.

A *complete Youtube video that explains this technique will help you to understand error checking, the sudoku123 method and the relationship between the three vertical and three horizontal stacks.

During your error-checking routine, it may become obvious that either a pencil mark is on its own in a cell or it is no longer necessary and should be discarded. Click your mouse over the cell, make sure that Pencil Marks mode is on, and type the pencil number to remove it. Clearing pencil marks that are no longer required is important to maintain a clear view of the entire puzzle. A pencil mark on its own in the cell can be confirmed as the correct placement for that cell.
